Our Pastor, The Rev. Roy D. Meyer, comes to us with a varied background. He was educated in the Public School System of The City of New York, graduating from The Brooklyn Technical High School majoring in Structural Engineering. His undergraduate degree was earned from Newberry College, Newberry, South Carolina in 1960 with a double major in Bible and Religious Education. Post graduate work was completed at Queens College, New York University, and The Pennsylvania State University. His Theological education culminated in the awarding of the Master of Divinity Degree in Systematic Theology at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 1963.
Pastor Meyer has served congregations of varying sizes, in rural, urban and suburban locales. Prior to coming to our area, Pastor Meyer, upon completition of his Clinical Pastoral Education work at the Central Islip State Hospital, Central Islip, New York, served as a Supervisory Chaplain for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at various institutions, including The Federal Prison camps at Allenwood, PA and La Tuna, New Mexico, Texas, and the Penitentiaries at Terre Haute, Indiana and Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Pastor Meyer has served on a number of Synodical committees including Religious Education, Camping , Small Church Outreach and the Committee of Deans. Further, he serves on the Evangelical Lutheran Coalition For Mission In Appalachia Task Force.
Pastor and his wife Gloria were married in 1961 and are the parents of four Children, six Grand Children and two Great Grand Children.
