Throughout the year the Churches and other local organizations collect food for the Pantry. Without these continued efforts for many families and indiviuals of our city and county, three meals a day, Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving meals would not be a reality, just a longing as they spend their days with not enough to eat.
- Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ.

- Danville State Hospital Project: Christmas Gifts
This project was started approximately 25 years ago by a wonderful Christian woman, Winetta Horn. She would gather the women of the church and make lap robes for the patients and send them along with the gifts. We receive names of patients from the hospital and place them on our Christmas Tree. Members of our congregation take names from the tree and purchase gifts. The patients look forward to receiving these gifts as many of them have no family, and consequently are alone at Christmas. This project has been very rewarding to our congregation and is truly a Christian effort as we keep Jesus in Christmas in this outreach program.
Valley View Nursing Home: Christmas Chorale and Fruit Distribution

The Valley View Fruit Project was started as a Christmas outreach to residents of the county “Poor Home”, the Lysock Home. For over 50 years the members of Redeemer have provided a fruit basket for each resident of the facility at Christmas time as well as having a Christmas Carol event with them on the day the baskets are delivered. When the Lysock Home was replaced by the Valley View Nursing Home the tradition continued with the residents there. Over the years we have adapted the fruit baskets to meet the needs of all residents. Different baskets are created each year based on the individual resident’s dietary needs. In 2008, 138 residents received baskets and the Sunrise Unit received fruit for them to create a fruit salad as a group activity. Members of Redeemer support the project through donations for purchasing the fruit and other gifts, packaging the baskets the day before the event, and finally delivering the fruit and having the Christmas Caroling program.

This free clothing program began in March, 2008, at the suggestion of a young boy, Daniel Horn, who felt the need to help others after he and another congregation member invited a gentleman into the church for some warmth and rest one chilly Sunday morning. After this experience, Daniel was “filled with the Spirit,” excitedly talking to his family and pastor about how we should help others with food, clothing or whatever we have to share.
“Daniel’s Closet” is a free clothing program for children, women, and men offered as a community outreach ministry at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd, Williamsport, PA. The Closet is open every 4th Saturday of the month, from 9-11 a.m.
